Tenerife has an abundance of great restaurants and culinary treats. Many of these are easy to find but several are off the beaten track but it is worth making the effort to visit these during your stay.
So whether you fancy traditional Spanish, Italian, Mexican, American or you just fancy a taste of home, we have sourced the best of the best.

Traditional
OTELO
For a real Canarian experience visit the Restaurante Otelo. Located at the famous Barranco del Infierno this restaurant serves up a typically local fare with chicken, potatoes and salad featuring prominently on the traditional menu. Well priced, warm and friendly - great for the kids too.
OTELO II
This Canarian restaurant has been famous in Adeje for almost twenty years. The menu is founded on simplicity and quality ingredients and you would be hard pushed to find a local who hasn't eaten there - a fact alone that speaks for itself.
LA TASCA DE MI ABUELO
La Tasca de mi Abuelo (The pub of my grandfather) is one of the best tapas bars in Los Cristianos, if not the south of Tenerife. Run by a friendly family they serve a large range of homemade dishes many of which are cooked to order.
The service is always friendly and the atmosphere later can quite often become lively as the place fills with locals and tourists alike. If you want to sample some genuine Spanish hospitality, food and warmth you will struggle to find a better place.
La Tasca de mi Abuelo can be found next door to the Overseas Chinese restaurant in Los Cristianos.
Oriental
JAPANESE TEPPANYAKI
Not only is the food amazing in this first rate Japanese restaurant, but the entertainment is second to none. Forget cabaret singers or flamenco dancers and watch the astonishing techniques of the restaurant's highly skilled chefs as they prepare their delicious specialities before your very eyes. Marvellous food, modern and sophisticated atmosphere - a brilliant night out.
SLOW BOAT
The Slow Boat is one of the more famous names on the island for Chinese cuisine. Located in the beautiful Puerto Colon region of Playa de las Americas, this restaurant serves up a delicious range of oriental delicacies that delight all who visit. The décor too is charming with an ornamental fountain containing koi carp and goldfish. Children are more than welcome and the whole menu is also available for take away.
THE KING AND I
If you like your food exotic and tasty then the King and I is a must. Located in the Garden City area of Playa de las Americas, this oriental eatery has a superb range of delicious Thai specialities. The green chicken curry is truly out of this world and will definitely have you coming back for more.
European
CLARETS
The restaurant itself enjoys an elegant and stylish décor and boasts a full "a la carte" menu that features a number of mouth-watering house specialities as well as a comprehensive range of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. The restaurant also bakes all its own bread, and the desserts, chocolates and after-dinner biscuits are all made on the premises.
Clarets also offers live entertainment five days a week and has an excellent dance floor on which to get down and boogie the night away. When booking you can request a table close to the action or if you prefer more intimacy then a quieter one further back. Clarets also caters for special functions and is happy to provide a full service for weddings, birthdays and anniversaries - including menu choices, photographer, balloons flowers and freshly baked celebration cakes.
EL PATIO
Unashamedly exclusive, stylishly elegant and unquestionably excellent, El Patio is renowned for its cosmopolitan atmosphere and wonderful food. Located in the Hotel Jardin Tropical the restaurant is famous for the amazing international gastronomic evenings which it periodically hosts. On a normal night however, El Patio offers a mouth-watering range of top end cuisine served by a discreet and friendly staff. Reservations are recommended.
American (North and South)
BANANA GARDENS
Banana Gardens offers an international and Mexican menu. Sit back and enjoy the cocktails, live music and Flamenco show then step up and dance the night away.
HARLEYS
Boasting the most extensive cocktail menu on the island, Harleys offers a fantastic atmosphere with a real American feel. The mouth-watering menu includes burgers, ribs and steaks all served with salad and fries.
ROSIE’S CANTINA
Situated in Royal Palm, this pleasant restaurant is a true representation of colourful Mexico, with authentic flavours (nachos, chillies, quesadillas, guacamole, taquitos, enchiladas, etcetera), and its passionate ranchero music. The establishment was designed as a cantina, with the drinking area situated on the lower floor, and dining area on the upper floor. Open daily from 6.00pm-11.15pm
